DS18 PROJECT360.BN Speakers: Sizes, Ohms and Install Checks

DS18 PROJECT360.BN speakers add a bullet-design, neodymium-magnet option to the brand’s mid-high loudspeaker range. DS18 detailed the expansion in an October 2, 2026 announcement. For anyone planning a build, the useful starting point is the model code: there are three sizes, each with two impedance choices.

DS18 PROJECT360.BN sizes and model codes

The six versions break down as follows:

  • 6.5-inch: PROJECT360.64BN is 4 ohms; PROJECT360.68BN is 8 ohms.
  • 8-inch: PROJECT360.84BN is 4 ohms; PROJECT360.88BN is 8 ohms.
  • 6-by-9-inch: PROJECT360.694BN is 4 ohms; PROJECT360.698BN is 8 ohms.

DS18 lists all six at 350 watts RMS and 700 watts maximum power handling, sold individually with no grille included. Its PROJECT360.BN product page identifies the BN combination as a black bullet and neodymium magnet. The separate PROJECT360.B uses a silver bullet and ferrite magnet, while PROJECT360.N pairs neodymium with a dust cap.

Put the full model number on your equipment list and quote. “PROJECT360 6.5-inch” leaves room for both an impedance mix-up and a different speaker version.

Choosing 4-ohm or 8-ohm speakers

Start with the proposed amplifier and wiring plan. Ask your installer to record how many speakers will connect to each channel, the resulting load and the amplifier’s rated output at that load. Check those details against the amplifier’s own documentation before ordering.

Keep the manufacturer’s RMS and maximum ratings clearly labeled when comparing equipment. Ask for the proposed gain and crossover setup as part of the quote, rather than selecting an amplifier from the largest wattage number alone.

A fitment example: PROJECT360.64BN

For the 6.5-inch, 4-ohm PROJECT360.64BN, DS18 specifies a 2.72-inch mounting depth and a 5.83-inch baffle cutout. It recommends a 140 Hz high-pass crossover. These figures come from that model’s manufacturer specifications.

Use the measurements to start a clearance check at the intended mounting location. Include the trim, mounting adapter and moving window hardware where relevant. Ask for the complete filter settings, including slope, and a plan for the rest of the system’s frequency coverage.

Before approving a quote, check three practical details:

  • Quantity: Make sure the total covers the number of individual speakers needed.
  • Protection: Decide whether the installation needs grilles, and include suitable ones in the parts list.
  • Exact fit: Verify dimensions for the chosen model instead of carrying the 6.5-inch example over to another size.

Keep replacement parts on the same list

The BN models retain PROJECT360’s rotating replacement-module design. Record the compatible replacement part for the exact speaker alongside the installation details. Our earlier DS18 PROJECT360 SEMA preview covers the platform’s serviceability and show plans.

The practical next step is a model-specific parts list, with fit, wiring and setup agreed before the purchase. That gives both the customer and installer a clear record to work from.
