Breaking News: 12 Volt Outlet is proud to announce our partnership with Full Throttle Batteries. An upgraded audio system shares its electrical foundation with a vehicle that still needs to start, run its factory equipment, and handle everyday driving. Battery selection belongs in that larger picture. Full Throttle brings AGM battery options into our partnership lineup for customers planning that foundation carefully.
Full Throttle is a Fullriver battery range. The manufacturer's materials describe thin-plate pure-lead AGM construction and dual-purpose applications. Those are useful starting points, but a battery purchase still comes down to the exact model, physical fit, charging requirements, and intended duty. One impressive specification cannot stand in for all four.
Three fitment families in our catalog
Our selection includes the Full Throttle FT1100-31, FT680-48, and FT825-34. These examples come from different battery fitment groups. They should be evaluated as distinct physical packages, rather than as interchangeable choices selected only by a larger number in the name.
Confirm case dimensions, terminal type and orientation, hold-down arrangement, and clearance to surrounding metal. Include the space needed for cable ends and protective covers. A battery that nearly fits can create a poor installation if the original cables are stretched, the hold-down cannot secure it, or a terminal sits too close to the hood.
Know what the ratings tell you
Cold-cranking performance, amp-hour capacity, and reserve capacity describe different aspects of battery behavior. A starting requirement is not the same question as how long accessories can operate with the engine off. Compare the relevant figures using consistent test conditions, and use the current specification sheet for the exact Full Throttle model.
For an audio build, describe how you actually use the system. Brief listening while parked, extended engine-off playback, and regular driving with a larger amplifier create different demands. Avoid converting an amplifier's advertised wattage directly into a guaranteed battery runtime. Real draw varies, and the vehicle still needs adequate energy available for its next start.
A battery and an alternator have different roles
The battery stores energy; the charging system must replenish it. Installing more storage does not make an undersized or malfunctioning charging system produce more current. Before changing equipment, have the existing battery condition, charging behavior, grounds, and cable connections checked so the upgrade addresses the actual limitation.
If additional batteries are proposed, treat the project as an electrical-system design. Cable routing, protection, isolation where appropriate, mounting, and charging compatibility all need to be resolved together. Mixing battery types or conditions without a manufacturer-supported plan can create problems that a higher capacity number does not solve.
Use charging settings appropriate for AGM
Follow Fullriver's current charging guidance for the chosen model and use a charger suited to that battery chemistry and specification. A charger advertised for a different battery technology should not be assumed suitable because its nominal voltage sounds familiar. Confirm storage and maintenance procedures before leaving a vehicle parked for an extended period.
AGM construction does not eliminate the need for responsible installation. Follow the manufacturer's mounting and ventilation instructions, protect terminals against accidental contact, and keep the battery securely restrained. Battery work can involve substantial fault current, so professional installation is appropriate when changing cable layouts, adding storage, or modifying the original mounting arrangement.
Make the electrical plan easy to maintain
Keep a record of the installed battery model, installation date, charger settings, and any wiring changes. For a vehicle used seasonally, establish a maintenance routine consistent with the manufacturer guidance. If starting behavior changes or the system repeatedly needs external charging, investigate the cause instead of treating repeated discharge as normal.
Our Full Throttle Batteries partnership puts this often-overlooked part of the audio build in focus. Browse the Full Throttle battery collection and our Full Throttle brand page at 12 Volt Outlet. Bring the vehicle's fitment details and your real listening habits to the decision, and choose a battery as part of a complete charging and installation plan.
