PRV Audio at 12 Volt Outlet

Put the vocals up front. Give every speaker a purpose.

A strong bass section deserves a speaker system that can keep the music balanced. PRV Audio brings a wide choice of midranges, midbass drivers, coaxials, and tweeters to that conversation. Our selection reaches from compact four-inch drivers to eight-inch midbass options, with car-audio RS models, sealed-basket PRO midranges, and MOTO choices for more specialized builds.

We are proud to partner with PRV Audio and bring these building blocks to the 12 Volt Outlet community. The fun starts with choosing what you want to hear more clearly, then giving each frequency range the right driver. Read our PRV Audio partnership announcement.

Everyday speaker upgrades

RS-series car speakers

PRV developed its RS family specifically for car-audio applications. Our selection includes the RS65-CX 6.5-inch coaxial pair, RS69-CX 6×9-inch coaxial pair, and RS65-PRO fullrange speaker pair. These provide different starting points for a conventional door or rear-speaker project.

A two-way coaxial places the high-frequency driver within the speaker assembly. The RS65-PRO is a different driver format, so compare its coverage and the intended system layout rather than assuming all RS models are interchangeable. Explore PRV's RS family.

Focused voices and instruments

Compact and dedicated midranges

The 4MR60-NDY-4 offers a compact four-inch neodymium format for projects where space and weight matter. Larger choices in our catalog include 6MR200A variants, the 6MR250B-4 SLIM, and 8MR600X models. Their different sizes, motors, and impedances give builders room to design around the available location.

The 4MR60's broad published response is useful, but PRV also specifies a high-pass requirement for full-power use. Read both pieces of information together. A response graph shows more than the range a driver should be asked to reproduce loudly without filtering. See the 4MR60 documentation.

Weight behind the rhythm

FORTE midbass drivers

PRV's FORTE family focuses on the midbass region. Our listings include the 6MB550FT and 6MB550FT-4, plus 8MB700FT, 8MB700FT-NDY, and 8MB700FT-NDY-4 models. Those choices let you compare ferrite and neodymium designs as well as impedance versions without losing sight of the driver's intended job.

Midbass provides the body and attack that helps connect the main speaker system to its bass section. It should be chosen together with the mounting arrangement, upper-frequency drivers, and crossover plan. Explore the 8MB700FT-NDY-4 and PRV's FORTE range.

Purpose-built alternatives

Sealed-basket PRO and MOTO speakers

The 6MR400SEAL PRO and 8MR500SEAL PRO use sealed baskets. PRV positions these as midrange drivers for multi-way systems; the enclosed rear construction changes how they can be incorporated into a cabinet. “Sealed” here describes the basket, not a general waterproof claim.

For motorsports projects, our MOTO selection includes MT6MR400CF-NDY-4 SLIM and MT8MR400CF-NDY-4 SLIM carbon-fiber midranges, alongside other MT models. PRV developed this range for weather-exposed applications. Match the exact driver's protection, mounting dimensions, and filtering to the installation. Explore the MOTO family.

Turn the speaker list into a coherent system

Choose where the upper frequencies will come from

The TW150SD-4 silk-dome tweeter pair gives you a dedicated high-frequency option. Separate tweeters make placement a deliberate decision rather than an accident of the door opening. Plan the mounting location, level, and crossover so voices and instruments remain connected to the rest of the front stage. Do not connect a tweeter to an unrestricted full-range signal.

Read PRV's rating labels, not just the biggest number

PRV documentation distinguishes nominal power handling, continuous-program power, and peak power. For example, its 4MR60-NDY-4 specification separates those three ratings and pairs full-power operation with a recommended high-pass filter. Keep the manufacturer's definitions attached to the numbers when comparing amplifier output. Program and peak figures should not silently become continuous thermal ratings.

Match impedance to the complete speaker arrangement

Several PRV families in our selection offer different nominal impedances. Choose the version for the intended amplifier and wiring arrangement, especially when several speakers share a channel. Work out the combined load first. Equal diameter and a familiar model prefix do not guarantee the same electrical result.

Make the installation support the sound

A rigid door adapter, sealed mounting interface, and clear path for the window mechanism are worth planning before a speaker swap. Custom pillars and pods need an evaluation of visibility, airbags, and controls. For an active system, map the processing outputs and amplifier channels before adding another pair of drivers. For a passive system, verify the crossover components and intended driver combination.

Start with your vehicle, speaker locations, amplifier model, and the part of the sound you want to improve. Send those details to 12 Volt Outlet to make the next comparison more useful.

PRV Audio questions, answered

Should I choose a coaxial or separate drivers?

A coaxial can simplify a speaker-location upgrade. Separate midbass, midrange, and high-frequency drivers allow more placement and tuning choices, but also require the corresponding crossovers, wiring, and channels. Choose the architecture before choosing quantities.

Does “fullrange” mean the speaker replaces a subwoofer?

No. It describes the driver's intended coverage, not unlimited low-frequency output. Use the response, excursion limits, and filtering guidance for the exact PRV model. Deep bass can still require a dedicated subwoofer section.

Is a sealed-basket PRV driver waterproof?

Do not infer that from the name. The sealed basket on models such as 6MR400SEAL PRO is an acoustic construction feature. Weather-exposed installations need a driver specifically documented for that environment.

Are PRV speakers sold individually or in pairs?

Both formats appear in our selection. RS speaker pairs and the TW150SD-4 pair are labeled accordingly, while many dedicated midranges are individual drivers. Check the listing quantity and whether the stated power rating is per speaker.

Does this page include every product PRV manufactures?

No. It focuses on the speaker models in our catalog. PRV's wider manufacturer range includes other equipment. Use the 12 Volt Outlet PRV collection for our current listings, prices, and availability.
