Breaking News: 12 Volt Outlet is proud to announce our partnership with Prestige. Vehicle security, remote starting, and keyless-entry convenience all meet at a familiar moment: reaching for the remote before walking to the car. Prestige gives drivers several ways to shape that moment around the information and control they want.
We are excited to feature a brand that lets the conversation begin with the owner. Do you want a compact, straightforward control? Would a confirming display be useful when the vehicle is out of sight? Are you planning both security and remote start? Those answers provide a better starting point than comparing model numbers alone.
Three combined systems worth understanding
The Prestige APS997Z combines remote start, keyless entry, and security. The manufacturer lists a five-button two-way LCD transmitter alongside a one-way companion remote. Our selection also includes the APS997ZLR, another combined system with a two-way LCD control and a one-way companion.
For a different handheld experience, the APS787Z is a one-way remote-start, keyless-entry, and security system. Prestige lists two five-button one-way transmitters for that package. This gives two drivers a matching control arrangement, while the LCD-equipped packages emphasize feedback through their primary remote.
These are useful differences to discuss before installation. A two-way control can report supported confirmation from the vehicle. A one-way control sends the command without the same return information. The most suitable arrangement depends on how you park, what you want to know, and which remote each driver will carry.
Look beyond the display to the security plan
Prestige's manufacturer information for these combined systems includes a siren, starter interrupt, and dual-stage shock sensing. Those features perform different jobs, and the installer should explain how they will operate in the finished vehicle.
Ask which openings and events the installation monitors, what produces a warning versus a full alarm response, and how the owner can understand a reported event. Sensitivity should suit the vehicle and its surroundings. Turning everything to the most sensitive setting is not a substitute for appropriate setup.
No alarm guarantees that theft cannot occur. A useful security project combines suitable equipment, careful installation, informed use, and ordinary precautions such as keeping valuables out of view. Describe your actual concerns so the equipment addresses them rather than relying on a generic feature checklist.
Remote-start convenience has vehicle-specific details
Before choosing the system, confirm the vehicle's year, make, model, trim, transmission, and key type. Factory electronics and existing aftermarket equipment affect the installation plan. Ask about the required interface, harnesses, programming, and the supported functions.
Then walk through a real departure. What happens when the engine starts remotely? Will the climate controls resume the desired setting? Does the engine stay running during entry, or does the application require a shutdown and normal restart? Getting those answers early makes the finished system easier to live with.
Manual-transmission applications need explicit equipment support and the correct safety procedure. They should never be inferred from support for a similar automatic vehicle. All remote starting should take place outdoors, away from garages and other enclosed spaces.
Plan connected control separately
Prestige identifies CarLink readiness on these product families. Readiness is an invitation to discuss a compatible upgrade, not evidence that a phone-control module or ongoing cellular service is included in the base package.
If connected control matters, confirm the current compatible hardware, supported functions, activation, service terms, and coverage requirements. Also decide who should have access. A clearly defined control plan is more useful than discovering after installation that a desired phone feature depends on a separate purchase or service.
A confident handoff makes the difference
Ask for a demonstration of both supplied remotes, ordinary arming and disarming, remote-start shutdown, and service mode. Save the system and transmitter model numbers with the paperwork. If a remote is later lost, that information is far more reliable than identifying a replacement by its case shape.
