Description
Description
Hand built in the USA, the DC Audio XL SPL 18" Subwoofer is a high-power driver designed for competition-level SPL and brutal bass control. It handles 2200W RMS (4400W peak) to deliver sustained, loud performance in premium builds—Click HERE to get a Subwoofer Box.
- Power Handling: 2200W RMS / 4400W peak — ensures the driver can sustain very high output without thermal compression or failure in demanding SPL setups.
- 8 Layer Flat Wound Hi-temp Aluminum Voice Coil: rugged, heat-tolerant coil that maintains linear motion under long, high-power bursts for consistent bass response.
- Extremely rigid non-pressed paper cone assembly: stiffness helps minimize cone flex and distortion at deep bass excursions, improving clarity in loud systems.
- Multilayered polymer foam surround: durable, controlled cone travel that supports aggressive Xmax while preserving mechanical integrity.
- Cast aluminum black frame: rigid, lightweight structure that reduces cabinet resonance and supports heavy-duty mounting.
- FEA analyzed and optimized motor assembly – Fully CNC machined: precisely engineered magnet and pole geometry for efficient motor control and consistent performance.
- Chrome spring loaded push terminals: secure, easy-to-wire connections designed for high-current applications.
- Mounting details (18" size): Mounting Depth 11.25", Outside Driver Diameter 18.5", VC Diameter 3.0" — enables accurate enclosure planning and fitment in deep-trunk builds.
In a real car audio build, this 18" XL SPL shines in high-output enclosures designed for deep, highway-filling bass. It supports a high-current amplifier setup and offers a defined sealed or ported path per recommended volumes (sealed around 3.5 ft, ported around 5.5 ft for the 18" size). With 26mm Xmax and a sensitivity around 90 dB at 1W/1m, it delivers substantial excursion and output for serious SPL ambitions while maintaining controlled bass characteristics. The dual Ohm options (.7/1/1.4/2/4) and robust construction—tinsel leads, motor boot, and CNC motor assembly—provide reliable performance under extended, demanding use.

Suggestions use 75–125% of the subwoofer’s RMS rating at the wiring load shown. Check wiring, enclosure needs, electrical capacity and installation space. Set gain and filters correctly to avoid overpowering the subwoofer. Buying more than one subwoofer changes the match.
