Coil Configuration

Description

The DC Audio PS3 10" Subwoofer is a hand-built, USA-made driver designed to excel in sealed or ported enclosures and even open-air installations, delivering deep, controlled bass for enthusiast builds.

  • Power Handling (RMS/Peak): 1250 Watts RMS / 2500 Watts peak — provides substantial headroom for dynamic bass transients without clipping when paired with a suitable amplifier.
  • Voice Coil Options: Dual 1 Ω or Dual 2 Ω versions — lets you match the driver to different amp loads and wiring configurations for optimal damping and efficiency.
  • Rigid cone assembly: Extremely rigid non-pressed paper cone with a multilayered polymer foam surround — helps keep cone breakup low for tighter bass in real-world listening.
  • Internal venting and cooling: Rear gap venting and a pole vent — improves cooling stability and reduces thermal compression in demanding sessions, especially in open-air or compact enclosures.
  • Motor and frame: Triple-stacked FEA-optimized motor with a cast aluminum black frame and a CNC-machined assembly; 2.5 mm aluminum shorting ring; rubber magnet cover — delivers strong, linear magnetics and reliable motor control.
  • Voice coil and terminals: 3" high-temp voice coil on a black anodized former; chrome spring-loaded push terminals — supports high power handling with durable, repeatable connections.
  • Size and fit: 10" driver with 6.25" mounting depth, 9.35" mounting hole diameter, and 11" outside driver diameter; VC diameter 3.0" — straightforward fit in many shallow or mid-depth enclosures.
  • Enclosure suggestions: Sealed box around 0.65 ft³; ported box around 1.0 ft³ — guidance for achieving solid bass in smaller spaces while preserving output control.
  • Sound and sensitivity: Ref SPL @ 1 watt 78.65 dB — indicates strong efficiency for a driver of this class, contributing to audible output with moderate amplifier power.

In a real car build, the PS3 10" shines as a rugged, high-power driver that can live in compact sealed enclosures or larger ported boxes, while also performing reliably in open-air installations. Its construction emphasizes endurance and precise control, making it a solid foundation for a high-impact, enthusiast-grade bass system.

Recommended Monoblock Amplifiers

Power-matched options for one subwoofer or one complete loaded enclosure. We aim to include same-brand choices when their ratings qualify.

Loading amplifier suggestions…

Suggestions use 75–125% of the subwoofer’s RMS rating at the wiring load shown. Check wiring, enclosure needs, electrical capacity and installation space. Set gain and filters correctly to avoid overpowering the subwoofer. Buying more than one subwoofer changes the match.
