VIBE Audio at 12 Volt Outlet
British audio. A vehicle-first approach.
Explore VIBE Audio speakers, loaded subwoofer enclosures and Metra SoundStage complete audio packages. From a focused factory-speaker upgrade to a coordinated truck or Jeep audio system, the right choice starts with the vehicle you drive and the equipment already inside it.
The VIBE Audio story
VIBE Audio traces its car-audio story to 1993. The British brand is headquartered in Sutton Coldfield, England, where its engineering, sales and distribution operations support a range that includes speakers, amplifiers, subwoofers, enclosures and installation accessories.
Names such as SLICK, BLACKAIR, CVEN, OPTISOUND and POWERBOX appear across that wider range. They cover different roles, from replacement speakers and compact amplification to bass systems and sound-quality-focused equipment. A family name is a useful introduction, but the complete model number, generation and specifications are what determine whether a product belongs in your installation.
At 12 Volt Outlet, this guide focuses on the VIBE equipment and vehicle-specific solutions presented in Metra’s SoundStage catalog. Metra and VIBE Audio collaborated on complete upgrade packages that bring audio components and installation parts together. The SoundStage name identifies the catalog and package range; the speakers, amplifiers, interfaces and wiring retain their actual manufacturer identities.
A complete system involves more than one brand. Depending on the package, VIBE Audio speakers and amplifiers work alongside Metra mounting and integration parts, Axxess signal processing or interfaces, and T-Spec cables. Check the exact contents of each kit rather than assuming every component is made by VIBE.
Three ways to upgrade with VIBE Audio
Decide how much of the system you want to change. A replacement speaker, a loaded enclosure and a complete vehicle package solve different problems and require different supporting equipment.
Coordinated vehicle systems
Metra SoundStage complete audio kits
These packages combine matched audio equipment with application-specific installation and integration parts. The source range covers selected Ford F-150 and Bronco models, Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra Crew Cab trucks, Jeep Wrangler JL and Gladiator JT models, and Toyota Tacoma Double Cab trucks.
Contents vary by application. Some packages use separate amplifiers and a pre-tuned interface; others include a multi-channel DSP amplifier with vehicle-specific tuning. Speaker locations, subwoofer size, enclosure design and mounting hardware also differ. Read the complete component list for your exact kit.
Bass with a planned location
Loaded subwoofer enclosures
The loaded enclosure range pairs VIBE BLACKAIR shallow-mount subwoofers with vehicle-oriented housings. Examples include a tailgate-mounted sealed 12-inch enclosure for specified Wrangler and Bronco applications, and ported 10-inch enclosures for selected truck cabins.
A loaded enclosure contains a subwoofer and enclosure; it does not automatically include an amplifier, power wiring or an integration interface. Check what is supplied, where it mounts and which additional equipment your existing system requires.
Factory-location upgrades
Direct-replacement speakers
Vehicle-specific replacement choices cover selected BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Tesla applications. The range includes component and coaxial speakers, tweeters, midrange or midwoofer drivers, center-channel kits and under-seat bass drivers.
For example, BMW under-seat replacement options are listed in separate 2-ohm and 4-ohm versions. Those versions should be selected for the actual amplifier and system, not treated as interchangeable because the basket size looks the same. Confirm fitment and electrical compatibility together.
The supporting pieces
Integration, mounting and tuning
Keeping a factory radio can involve more than adapting a plug. The system may need a compatible interface, the correct signal routing, vehicle-specific tuning and a safe mounting plan for the new equipment.
Complete kits address these needs through their specified combinations of harnesses, adapters, brackets, processing and audio components. Preserve that combination when installing a package. Metra describes these complete systems as coordinated sets whose included components are required for intended performance.
What changes from one vehicle package to another?
Ford F-150: identify the original sound system
The FD-PPKT-1 package illustrates why the detailed application notes matter. Metra specifies 2015–2017 amplified and 2015–2025 non-amplified F-150 SuperCrew applications for that kit. Its configuration includes front and rear speakers, two four-channel amplifiers, a 10-inch ported subwoofer enclosure and pre-tuned Axxess processing. A separate kit covers specified later B&O-amplified trucks. Year, cab style and original audio system all belong in the fit check.
Bronco and Jeep: plan the mounting locations
The non-amplified Bronco FD-PPKT-3 uses a six-channel DSP amplifier, a separate subwoofer amplifier, front and rear speakers and a sealed 12-inch tailgate enclosure. Wrangler packages use their own dash and soundbar arrangements. On the JP-PPKT-1 listing, Metra excludes 4xe models and notes that power seats can require an amplifier-rack height modification. These are meaningful installation differences, even when the basic vehicle name matches.
Truck bass: check the cab before the cone size
The TY-TAC1-10 is a front-firing, ported enclosure designed for the rear-cab area of the specified Tacoma Double Cab. Other enclosures use different locations and firing orientations. Seat clearance, mounting points, cargo use and service access deserve the same attention as the subwoofer’s diameter. Verify the exact cab and model-year application before choosing the enclosure.
How to choose the right VIBE Audio upgrade
Start with a complete vehicle description
Write down the year, make, model, body or cab style and original audio package. Include whether the vehicle has an original amplifier and any named factory audio system. Check exclusions, generation changes and special equipment in the product listing. A matching model name alone is not enough to establish compatibility.
Choose a complete package or a focused upgrade
If you want to change the speakers, amplification, bass and integration together, compare complete packages first. If one part of your system already works well, a direct replacement or loaded enclosure may be a more focused approach. Keep a list of what your selected item includes and what the installation still needs.
Compare continuous ratings and the correct load
Separate RMS or continuous figures from peak and maximum figures. For amplifiers, compare output at the load you will actually connect and distinguish per-channel output from the total. For subwoofers, identify each voice coil and the final wiring arrangement. The 2-ohm rating of an individual coil is different from the final load of a wired dual-coil system.
Make time for installation and setup
Vehicle-specific connections can simplify a project, but trim removal, secure mounting, protected cable routes, correct fusing and tuning still take care. Follow the current instructions for the exact package. Where a DSP tune must be loaded using software, include that step in the plan rather than assuming every setting is ready without verification.
Use the product page for current details
Use the VIBE Audio collection to find the published listings, then check the individual page for price, availability, contents and application notes. This brand guide explains the range and selection process; it does not guarantee inventory or universal fit. If a detail is unclear, contact 12 Volt Outlet with the exact vehicle and product model before ordering.
VIBE Audio: common questions
Is VIBE Audio a British brand?
Yes. VIBE Audio identifies its history as beginning in 1993 and its headquarters as Sutton Coldfield, England. That brand background does not establish the manufacturing country of every individual component; check the exact product documentation for that information.
Why are these products listed under SoundStage by Metra?
SoundStage is the Metra catalog grouping for these vehicle-audio solutions. Complete packages are the result of a Metra and VIBE Audio collaboration and can combine equipment from several named brands. Our VIBE Audio guide keeps that relationship clear while preserving the actual product model and component information.
Will a plug-n-play kit fit every version of my vehicle?
No. Fit depends on the exact application, including model year, cab or body style, factory amplification and listed exclusions. Check the complete fitment notes and current instructions. A similar-looking connector or speaker opening does not establish system compatibility.
Can I remove components from a complete SoundStage package?
Metra states that the complete kits are designed as integrated systems and that the included components are required for intended performance. Follow the kit instructions. For a partial upgrade, compare products specifically offered as individual replacements or loaded enclosures.
Does a loaded subwoofer enclosure include an amplifier?
Check the item’s contents. A passive loaded enclosure generally combines a subwoofer with its enclosure and still requires suitable amplification and installation parts. A complete audio kit can include those additional components, but its full parts list is the deciding reference.
Can I use the 2-ohm or 4-ohm BMW replacement interchangeably?
Choose the version that is compatible with your vehicle’s audio system and the connected amplifier. Impedance affects amplifier loading. Confirm the exact application instead of choosing solely by speaker diameter or appearance.
