Timpano TPT-1000.4 2 Ohm 4-Channel Class D Amplifier

Timpano Audio at 12 Volt Outlet

Choose the power. Build the system to use it.

Timpano's amplifier range gives builders several distinct ways to power a car-audio system: a four-channel speaker amplifier, full-range monoblocks, and dedicated BASS-series amplifiers. This guide explains those amplification choices, from the compact TPT-1000.4 to larger single-channel models. Check our current Timpano Audio collection for the models available to order.

The exciting part is the flexibility. A loud front stage, a multi-speaker installation, and a dedicated subwoofer section do not need the same amplifier. Start with the frequency range, channel count, and final speaker load, then select the Timpano model that fits the job.

Three Timpano amplifier paths to understand

Four channels for the speaker system

TPT-1000.4 2 Ohm

The TPT-1000.4 is a four-channel Class D amplifier with a compact chassis and supported bridged operation. It offers fixed 90 Hz high-pass or low-pass filtering, plus flat operation for a system using suitable external processing.

That filter arrangement is an important buying detail. If a driver needs a different high-pass point or a dedicated band-pass range, plan the appropriate crossover or DSP rather than assuming the onboard switch covers every speaker. The amplifier's four channels let you preserve separate signal paths where a single-channel amplifier would not.

One channel, broader applications

TPT full-range monoblocks

Our catalog includes TPT-1500, TPT-2200, and TPT-3000 1-ohm models, TPT-8000 in separate 1- and 2-ohm versions, and the TPT-10500EQ 1-ohm. These belong to the full-range monoblock side of the selection. The precise frequency coverage and controls vary, so “full-range” should be checked against the frequencies your particular system needs.

The TPT-3000 1 Ohm, for example, has a much wider published frequency range than a dedicated bass amplifier, along with adjustable high- and low-pass filters. It is a single audio channel, even when that channel powers several appropriately connected speakers. See Timpano's TPT-3000 details.

Dedicated low-frequency duty

TPT-BASS3000 and TPT-BASS5000

The TPT-BASS3000 and TPT-BASS5000 are dedicated bass amplifiers. Their controls include subsonic filtering, low-pass filtering, and adjustable bass boost, giving a subwoofer installation a different control set from the full-range models.

Choose the amplifier together with the subwoofer wiring and enclosure. A ported system's low-frequency protection needs to suit its tuning and driver limits. More boost is not a substitute for an enclosure that matches the subwoofer or an electrical system that supports the installation. Explore BASS5000 features.

The exact version matters

Choose the load before the model

Separate TPT-8000 1-ohm and TPT-8000 2-ohm listings make the decision visible. The impedance in the product name identifies a particular amplifier version, not a suggestion to wire every installation to the lowest possible load.

Work out the complete speaker or voice-coil wiring arrangement first. Then compare rated output at that load and confirm the manufacturer's minimum permitted impedance. If the speaker plan changes later, recheck the amplifier match instead of assuming the original choice still applies.

Make a Timpano power plan that works

Decide what each amplifier will drive

For a stereo speaker system, separate left and right channels matter. A four-channel amplifier can serve multiple speaker channels or supported bridged arrangements. A full-range monoblock may suit a dedicated mono speaker section with the right filtering. A BASS-series amplifier belongs with the subwoofer section. Write those jobs down before comparing model numbers.

Keep voltage and load attached to the wattage

Timpano publishes output under specified supply-voltage and impedance conditions. Read those conditions together with the power rating. A rating at 14.4 volts and one load is not a promise of identical output at a different voltage or load. Keep maximum or dynamic figures separate from the continuous ratings used to plan the system.

Budget for the electrical installation

A large amplifier is one part of a high-output build. Plan suitable power and ground conductors, circuit protection, distribution, secure terminals, and the vehicle's charging capability. The larger single-channel models warrant an electrical-system assessment before purchase. A physically small amplifier can still demand substantial current.

Allow space around the chassis for its connections and cooling, and use the exact model's installation instructions for cable and protection requirements. Do not choose a wiring kit by an optimistic wattage label alone. Cable length, conductor material, current, and the installation route all affect the decision.

Set filters before turning it up

Establish the intended operating band for each connected driver. Dedicated midranges and tweeters may need filtering beyond an amplifier's built-in range, while a subwoofer needs settings coordinated with its enclosure. Set the input gain from a clean source signal. Gain matches signal level; it is not an extra volume control.

Bring the amplifier model, speaker quantity and impedance, enclosure details, and vehicle information to 12 Volt Outlet. A clear parts list makes it easier to identify whether you need four channels, a full-range mono section, or dedicated bass amplification.

Timpano Audio questions, answered

Are all Timpano monoblocks subwoofer amplifiers?

No. Our selection includes both full-range monoblocks and dedicated BASS-series models. Channel count tells you how many amplifier channels there are, while the model's frequency range and controls determine its suitable applications.

Can one full-range monoblock provide stereo sound?

It has one amplified output channel, so it does not provide separate left and right amplified channels. If stereo separation is part of your plan, allocate appropriate independent channels rather than combining both sides unintentionally.

Can I bridge the TPT-1000.4 into a 2-ohm load?

No. Timpano specifies a minimum 4-ohm load for its bridged configuration. The 2-ohm per-channel rating must not be carried over to bridged operation. Follow the terminal diagram and wiring instructions for the exact amplifier.

Is the biggest Timpano amplifier automatically the best choice?

No. It must suit the speakers' ratings, final impedance, enclosure, intended output, and electrical supply. Excess capacity without a matching installation plan does not guarantee a better listening result.

Are Timpano speakers and processors included in this guide?

This page focuses on the amplifiers in our current Timpano selection. The manufacturer makes other product categories, but that does not mean every category is stocked here. Use our Timpano Audio collection to see current listings, prices, and availability.
