Closed-end crimp caps for wire joints

Snow caps, also called closed-end crimp caps, enclose wire ends brought together from the same direction. The Install Bay nylon caps in this collection form permanent crimped connections. Their flared entry helps guide stranded conductors into the cap during preparation.

Choose the gauge, neck style and quantity

  • CC2218: 22–18 AWG nylon crimp caps, 100 pieces.
  • CCL1614: 16–14 AWG long-neck nylon crimp caps, 100 pieces.
  • CCL1614-1: the 16–14 AWG long-neck option in a 1,000-piece package.
  • CCLB1614: black 16–14 AWG long-neck nylon crimp caps, 100 pieces.
  • CC1210: 12–10 AWG nylon crimp caps, 100 pieces.

Start with the conductor combination and required connector shape, then choose the pack size. The black CCLB1614 offers a different appearance while keeping the stated 16–14 AWG range. Do not assume that every cap can accept any number of wires simply because their individual gauges match the label.

Snow cap questions

Are these twist-on wire nuts?

These are crimp connectors and require an appropriate crimping tool. Confirm the wire combination and follow the connector's fitting instructions rather than installing them as twist-on caps.

When would I choose a butt connector instead?

A butt connector accepts wire ends from opposite directions for an inline splice. A closed-end cap brings the wire ends together through one opening, which changes how the finished joint sits in the harness.

Does the closed end make the connection waterproof?

A closed-end shape does not establish a waterproof rating. Check environmental protection separately, inspect the finished crimp and support the wiring so the connection is not carrying cable strain.
